Celebrating a Vision that Included Little Ones
We celebrate the faith and vision of the people here at Broadway Church in Waldo.
Faith is the evidence of things unseen. Here's how our faith became evidence of changed lives.
We had faith that if we prepared a special room just for the little ones, that little ones would find their
way to this ministry. The known standards for rooms for little ones in chuches were clear: professional,
trusted staff and a clean bright space on the same level as the worship space. We had the staff, yet the room
being used didn't meet the other standards. People of faith had a vision and they began to work on the current
space, remodeling, recarpeting, new ceiling tile, new design. It turned into a great project, well done, that's bright,
attractive and staffed with faithful folks.
A few years later, the vision became true as households with children continued here instead of going elsewhere,
and additional households with children arrived. The faith of those here became seen as families entrusted their
little ones to our ministry.
What vision do you have for the future of this mininstry?
Lent
Spring Break... Sometimes, no matter how we try, Lenten reminders can leave
folks a little flat. We're headed to Easter. The weather's been noticeably
warmer. The birds are coming back. And yet we're still in the season of
repentance, penance and preparation. So, this Sunday I thought we'd take (just a
little bit of) a break. We're going to feature some of the great songs of faith.
I'll pick some. Those of you in worship will pick some. And we'll have uplifting
music as the focus of our worship.
Your Inner Self
Leadership begins on the inside. Even if you don't lead
anyone else, leading yourself can be a project sometimes. This Sunday we'll be exploring how to lead
your inner self to a deeper relationship with the eternal. I hope will join us and reap the benefits.
Practicing Hope
Hope is a big part of Lent. As we anticipate the first Sunday in Lent, March 1, we will begin by considering how hope can be present.
Clearly, hope is welcome in the current times of our planet. At the same time, we will also consider how Jesus offers hope in our Christian community in the spiritual time when we consider our actions compared to God's actions for us. Of course we all fall short, yet we also live within the love God has for us and God's persistence in reminding us of grace.
This Sunday we'll find out how Jesus encourages us to practice the hope God offers. It's a narrow-yet-powerful opportunity. I pray that you will be with us to practice hope.
